Eating in Japan :: Not Dead Yet in Shirakawa-Go

In Shirakawa-Go, I stayed overnight in one of the thatched roof farmhouses.  Part of that included having breakfast and dinner.  Part of the dinner was fresh river trout.  When it was first put in front of me, I was afraid the fish might get up and run away.

Eating in Japan :: Literal menu in Kanazawa

In Kanazawa, I went to the equivalent of a tapas bar.  After loading up and getting nearly full on 'safe' foods, I decided to sample a more interesting item from the menu.  So, I ordered the "Grilled Pork Foot."  I had no idea it would be quite so literal!

Eating in Japan :: Sushi in Kyoto
Found a great sushi place for dinner tonight in Kyoto called Musashi Sushi.  You sit down at a bar, and all along the bar is a conveyor belt.  There are plates and plates of sushi on said conveyor belt.  You just grab a plate of the sushi you want off the conveyor belt and dig in.  Each and every plate is $1.50, so you grab as much as you want and just count up the plates when you are done.  Great idea, and it was really tasty too.  I have a feeling I might be having it again for dinner tomorrow – it was only like a mile down the street (and what's one more mile at the end of the day when you've already walked 16!)
